Firewalls Seek a DMZ Solution    (estimated reading time: 1min 35sec)

Most DSL firewalls / modems provide a "DMZ Host" option which allows one IP Address (computer) to be exposed to the Internet. By no means does it provide the hardware or software you need to establish a scalable Ghost Network Platform within the DMZ - that's why iWebGate is perfectly designed for your firewall.

iWebGate currently converges 7 primary network services, which would typically need to be installed on a number of servers, into ONE simple solution which can be securely and reliably exposed to the Internet via your "DMZ Host Option" found within your current DSL firewall / modem.

There is some excellent perimeter gateway / firewall devices that help protect against multiple forms of attack.

Having a well configured and maintained perimeter gateway / firewall is just the beginning of a sound network security model. The perimeter firewall is the front-line defence against unauthorised access to a network and resources but by no means should it be the last.

It should be noted that iWebGate's Ghost Network Platform is NOT a firewall and at no stage do we discourage their use. In fact, the recommended position for iWebGate's Ghost Network solution is behind a robust perimeter firewall AND in front of a forceful internal firewall (i.e. encourages the use of more firewalls - as noted in the images below).

iWebGate Ghost Network Platform - Sample Network Setup Model

iWebGate provides a turn-key, hardened and full-featured Ghost Network Platform for maximum network protection - without the need for specialised experience and knowledge in configuring DMZ services. The iWebGate Ghost Network Platform provides all the necessary hardened service end-points required to protect the trusted network and is designed specifically with firewalls in mind
